We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) that address some of the most common concerns and queries we receive from new students like yourself.

Can I register and study online?

All registration and teaching is fully face to face and you need to be on campus to complete your enrolment and attend classes.

Can I collect my BRP before I register?

If your BRP was sent to the University of Portsmouth, you will collect this once you complete your ICP enrolment. If your BRP was sent to the local Post Office, you are required to collect that in advance and present this during registration.

Can I live outside of Portsmouth?

You are required to have a valid address on campus for the duration of your studies. In accordance with our College policies, you have to live within 30-minute radius of campus.

I cannot find any accommodation within the city. What should I do?

Please check this webpage or contact our accommodation team at accommodation@icp.port.ac.uk. We will do our best to provide you with more information about available options depending on your preferred intake.

Do I have to register with the police?

This is no longer a requirement for students under the Student Route.

I cannot arrive in Portsmouth before the course start date. What should I do?

If you are unable to arrive in Portsmouth on time for the start of your semester, please inform us by sending an email to admissions@icp.port.ac.uk with the reason for the delay and your expected arrival date. Late registration applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis and you will require written approval from the College to enrol after the course start date.

I received an email from the University about completing my registration and ID checks. What should I do?

University of Portsmouth Login:
To reset your password to log into your University of Portsmouth account. Your username will be UP followed by your University of Portsmouth Student ID number. If you are having problems completing your online registration with the University – please do not worry! Staff will be on hand to help you complete this as part of your in-person registration process at ICP.

University of Portsmouth ID Check
Once you have completed your ICP registration you will be eligible to complete your University of Portsmouth ID check. During your ID check you will be able to receive your BRP and student ID card. Do note, you will be unable to collect your BRP without completing ICP Registration first.

I need help with opening a UK bank account.

You will need to prove your student status when opening your account and our College Services team can provide you with a letter of enrolment to support this once you complete your registration. It is advisable that you research the different options available to find the one that best suits your needs. Almost all banks offer standard student accounts, however with some banks students can also get additional benefits. The following banks have offices located within 10 minutes’ walk from the campus: Lloyds, HSBC, NatWest, Barclays.

When can I get my timetable?

As part of the in-person Registration process you will receive you ICP/ University of Portsmouth timetable (where relevant). Please note any timetable that is visible prior to completing ICP in-person Registration is not finalised.
